The floor had been wet for 6 hours before Steve got there. The drain hose from the dishwasher (which had just ran a full cycle) was the culprit. Steve extracted the water, set up the wood panels, tented and set up the E-TES. Cupping was evident and the floor registered 65% mc. 72 hours later, mc on the floor was 9.5% with no cupping. "Totally awesome!"

The question has been asked, "Can I use TES/E-TES in buildings with automatic fire sprinklers?" The quick answer is, "YES!" There are some precautions, though, as you might expect.

"From Table 6.2.5.1 NFPA13 2007 Edition indicates the maximum ceiling temperature, nominal operating temperature of the sprinkler, color of the bulb or link and the temperature classification."

Knowing these parameters will help you decide on your exhaust setup. This is the most important step anytime you use TES/E-TES. There is training availabe at the Reets Drying Academy or you can call the TES hotline - 800-948-1754 for more information.

Without proper exhaust, you may run the risk of overheating materials/contents and slowing or stopping the drying process. The ability to control ambient air temperatures (usually below 100°F) is why Directed Heat Drying™ is the best drying solution and not simply "cooking a building."

The IICRC ASD only course is a 3 day course that requires WRT as a prerequisit to taking the ASD exam and the tuition for the course is $1095 per seat.

The IICRC WRT/ASD combo course is 5 days and the tuition is $1295 per seat. The WRT and ASD content for this course is all blended together so that starting on the first day students will be in the floodhouse experiencing the hands portion of what they would normally do in an ASD only course. This means that you have to attend all five days even if you already have taken WRT.
