January 2010
TES-timonial: Sam Messina - Casa Grande, AZ

I have been using conventional drying equipment for over 2 years and have a restoration company in Arizona. I just purchased a TES unit from Interlink Supply of Tempe and LOVE IT! Last month I had a 1400 sq ft flooded vacant home and was able to dry it faster than I used to compared to my conventional drying equipment. Because I was able to direct the heat by floating the carpet I didn’t have to cut or remove the drywall, as I would have had to do with conventional drying.

In addition, just recently I had done a job for an insurance company and used the TES unit and the job went well. However, because the adjuster had not seen the TES unit before, he had questioned why I used it and was a little hesitant on paying the bill. However, after some conversations with John Otero on the matter, John had a conference call with the adjuster and explained what the advantages of using TES were and how they still coincide with the standards of the S500. The adjuster called two days later and had no problem paying my bill. I am so thankful for the support of the TES team, the guys at Interlink Supply and the new technology of Directed Heat Drying with TES.

Planning to Win

TES Owners: Marketing Tools

Marketing in the Phone Book
The fundamentals are tricky and the competition stiff. But these quick tips explain the advantages and essentials you need to create your own Yellow Page ad for the restoration industry.

Ad Placement
Yellow Page ads are placed from biggest to smallest. Full page ads, 3/4 and so on. Flip through your phone book and take a look at the restoration section. The very first full page ad you see is not randomly placed. This advertiser has had their full page ad the longest. If they were to give up their full page ad and downgrade to a 3/4, they would be the very last 3/4 ad you'd see until a newer advertiser bought a 3/4 page ad. It's all seniority-based. So if someone has the highest level 3/4 page and upgrades to a full page, they're still last until someone newer buys the same type ad.

Color vs Black & White
Research is conducted every year to see if a color ad generates more response than a black and white. Every year, the results are the same. Color ads do not outpull a black and white ad. Color ads are also more expensive so this is a cost to consider eliminating from your ad budget.

Headline
Tell your customers the benefits of buying your services immediately! There's not much time so you have to grab a potential customer's attention. Tell them how long you've been in business, why you are different from your competitors and what associations you belong to. However, you need to make sure that your yellow page ad answers two main questions:

1. How long will it take for you to come to my home or business?

Make sure that your yellow page ad has something on it that will answer that question.

Examples:

  • "RESPONSE IN MINUTES 24/7"
  • "24 HOUR EMERGENCY DRY OUT SERVICE"
  • "60 MINUTE RESPONSE TIME"

2. After you get here, how long will it take to dry out my home?

This is where you REALLY can separate your company from the rest of your competition.

Examples:

  • "WET TODAY DRY TOMORROW"
  • "WORLD'S FASTEST DRYING SYSTEM"
  • "DESERT DRY IN RECORD TIME"
  • "WE DRY MOST JOBS IN 30 HOURS OR LESS"
  • "WE DRY MOST JOBS IN HALF THE TIME"
  • "WORLD'S MOST POWERFUL DRYING SYSTEM"

When you do your yellow page ad we also recommend that you have your phone number, company name, website address, use the IICRC logo (IF your company is IICRC certified). You want to perceive to your customers that you are very professional and trustworthy. We also recommend that you do advertise that you do DIRECT INSURANCE BILLING. This is very important especially to homeowners.

One more thing to remember Perception is Reality in the customers mind. How does your customer's perceive your company name? You want your customers want to have confidence and trust that you know what you are doing. When it comes to a flooded home they want the BEST! So Perception IS Reality in the customer's mind.

TES Logo & Branding
When you own an ETES or TES system, TES manufacturing will allow you to use the TES logo or any of our statements above. The only thing we ask is NOT to change our logo. The TES logo is a registered trademark. One important thing to remember is that the insurance industry is starting to realize that TES is the #1 Heat Drying method in the restoration industry. So we would recommend using the TES logo in your yellow page ad, business cards, invoices, vans, trucks, website or where ever you would like. Again, just don't change the look of the logo.

Here are some examples of some yellow page ad that some other TES owners use for the business:

We hope these tips will help you grow your business and if you have any further questions on marketing please email John Otero at john.otero@tesdryingsystem.com.
